Site of the 2008 U.S. Amateur, this course was reopened in 2000 after Tom Fazio makeover and “officially opened No. 4 as a brand new course, his Tribute to Pinehurst.” The course has over 140 pot bunkers, and large waste areas and offers “some of the most picturesque scenes at Pinehurst.” The 13 and 14th water holes are favorite “picturesque holes” in the spring when the azaleas bloom.

Maples Course is a "classic" Maples layout opened in 1970 is a "special place to play with beautiful lake views." It's "very challenging." Fans call it "a great golf course with great routing and great greens." Just to "look out over the lake has a calming effect" when you "get rattled by the course."
Palmer couse is "very playable" and is a "most interesting" layout with lots of water and sand. "Concentrate on keeping the ball dry!"
